Dr. Virginia Steen Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

On Saturday, July 26, Dr. Virginia Steen was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Scleroderma Foundation. Through her research at Georgetown University Medical Center, Dr. Steen works to identify new and innovative ways to catch pulmonary hypertension earlier in patients with scleroderma.

In her own words, “Scleroderma patients are not complainers, they adapt to their disability, and far too often don't get diagnosed until they are already functional class III with right heart failure. It is critical that we identify these patients sooner and get them treated as early as possible.”

Congratulations, Dr. Steen, and thanks for fighting for early diagnosis!
