Our Voice is Our Strength

Recently, a woman living with dystonia, a rare illness, wrote an op-ed that appeared in the New York Times. While her story is unique, it is a familiar story to others living with a rare illness and the isolation that one can feel. Read her story

The story resonated with a health blogger also living with a rare illness who gave voice to the common struggles the op-ed touched upon in her blog in Psychology Today. She provides great background on the public struggle for funding for research, but more poignantly reminds us that where our strength lies is in our united voice and sharing our stories to raise awareness, education and support for research so we no longer remain on the fringe.
